Rules // Application
FIRST AND FOREMOST I WANT TO MAKE IT VERY CLEAR WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY ANY APPLICATION WE DON'T DEEM FIT OR REMOVE ANY MEMBER FOR BREAKING OR EVEN BENDING THE RULES! It is up to OUR discretion. We want to protect our writers and the game we have built. If we feel for any reason someone is harmful to our way of life, action will be taken.
• It's the cardinal rule, folks. IC & OOC are to be kept separate AT ALL TIMES. OOC harassment of other members will NOT be tolerated. If we catch you crossing lines, we will not hesitate to give you the boot. We don't mess around. If you get caught, goodbye. Plain and simple.
• No MySpace kids, no siblings. No flavors of the month, no people I have never heard of. Basically, if they are famous or faux-famous for standing next to or knowing a celebrity, get real. I've met celebrities, I am not famous, neither are they.
• While liberties are certainly taken with the celebrities played in RP, please try and be true to the character you portray and try to be as realistic as possible. Google Alerts are handy for keeping up with your celeb and are highly recommended. Let's face it, celebs don't give us memos on their whereabouts, so some mistakes are understandable. But if there is a huge event and you know your kid is going to be there (IE: Oscars/Grammys) Have them there. Even if there aren't pictures of them and they really weren't there after all, it gives you a chance to interact with people who might have been there that are also in the community. Ya dig?
• All characters must be at least 16 years of age. All writers must be at least 18 years of age. If you have a character scraping the age limit, we will review your case if we think they might be a mature teenager who handles fame well. If it is someone like Elle Fanning who has been doing this a while, we might make an exception. If it is some flavor of the month new Disney star who is 13 and has been famous for 5 seconds, probably not. Staying power and maturity will always win out over popular faces and flavors of the month.
• • If you do have an underage character in the community we understand that romantic lines are fun but we also do not want a 16 year old dating a 26 year old. We understand it happens in real life, but that does not make it any less illegal. Unless it is a true to life couple where one is under age and one is legal, we will not allow this to happen. If you have a 16 year old character, the oldest you can date is 18. If your character is 17, the oldest you can date is 19. It allows for a little leeway, but we don't want any creepy old men perving on the little ladies, ya dig?
• Because of clashes in schedules/time differences between countries etc, this community is both AIM and threading friendly.
• Your character is required to update once a month. (IE: The 14th to the 14th) After this time, your character will be removed from the community. We understand that people have lives and cannot actively participate in the community on a daily basis but we do ask that you contribute. An update is a substantial entry into your own journal. Something of length and substance. We don't ask for novels but a few sentences is not an update and 1 small paragraph is not an update. A video is not an update. A picture is not an update. If your only activity within the comm is your monthly update, your character may be overridden.
• Extensions may be granted to active and long standing members of the community. If requests for extensions become habit, however, they will be denied and your character will be removed should you fail to update on time. If you know you are going to need an extension, please notify the mod prior to your update being due. Last minute requests for extensions (without good reason) will be denied. We will be handing out update passes for certain occasions and as prizes for participation in various things, so if you have one of those you are welcome to use it. But, please, be real and don't use them all in a row. If you seriously need to go 3 months using update passes, you need to think about if you really still want to be playing and creative writing.
• If you should need a hiatus at any time, please post a note in your journal and comment this post to give us a heads up. A week is standard, but if you need more let us know. As long as you promise to come back, I will give you a comment every week or so to make sure you are still alive and interested. If you are cool and don't break rules, why would I want to kick you out?
• When applying you must have a first entry. Something that gives us a feel for your writing ability and the voice of your character. We will no longer accept example journals. Too many people are coming in with great examples and not living up to them. So be prepared to write a first entry for all applications. And at least spell check and proof read it? A first entry with multiple typos will be laughed at and rejected. Come on, man.
• Characters will be held until next adds. If you miss adds, come back and hold again. That way we don't have someone on hold forever with no intentions of you coming back. It's scary to apply when someone has your kid on hold already. So just come back and re-hold if you just haven't had time to apply. Deal?
• All new members need to intro by the next set of adds. If they have not done so in this time, they will be removed. You can re-apply after that or hit up the mod and say you need an intro extension. But if you need an intro extension, are you really going to have time to play? Just think about it.
• All journals must have a link in their UI to the mod journal as a disclaimer. A friends only post is also preferable. If you have one, we recommend you turn off anon comments. There are trolls around everywhere.
• Established storylines are welcome so if you're looking for a new home for your pre-existing storyline, please feel free to apply.
